About Us

Team Saint Louis is dedicated to fostering an inclusive community where LGBTQ+ individuals can thrive through sports programming and healthy lifestyle initiatives. Our mission is to provide a safe and welcoming environment free from discrimination, where individuals of all identities can come together to engage in physical activity, build connections, and celebrate diversity. Through our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, we aim to promote wellness, acceptance, and unity within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.

Our mission is to ensure that every athlete, coach, official, and spectator—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression—can participate fully and authentically.

We actively work to dismantle barriers to entry in sports and provide a space where queer and allied individuals can build community through competition and camaraderie.

At Team St. Louis, you don’t just have a seat at the table; you have a place on the team.

History

Team Saint Louis was founded August 1982 as a sports club that offered LGBTQ+ individuals a safe and welcoming space to join like-minded people with an array of program offerings. Opportunities included cross country running, bowling, volleyball, cycling, tennis, dancing, swimming, softball, rugby, kickball, soccer, and others.

In 2007, TSL, Inc. was formed and created as a non-profit organization. The organization has evolved & grown into what it is today by hard working board members and participants who strive to continue to push change in the face of adversity to create the same safe, inclusive space, where there is room for everyone.

Meet the Board

Justin Mincher

President

I’ve been a member of Team St. Louis for over 10 years and bring with me a wealth of experience with non-profit organizations. My journey includes volunteering at events with several different organizations and founding my own NPO, CTA, which focuses on giving youth in need opportunities to excel in their communities through athletics. I also have a professional background in business development, which I’m eager to use to help grow Team St. Louis. My goal is to help the organization become bigger and better, reach more individuals, encourage greater engagement, and offer a wider variety of activities and social settings for our community to come together and thrive

Tyson Cameron

Vice President

Hi! I’m Tyson. I was never a “sports gay.” I’ve always been more into theatre and choir. I did play volleyball in high school, but I was forced to choose between that and theatre. About six years ago, a friend invited me to join a sand volleyball team—and I’ve never looked back. I joined Team Saint Louis Volleyball in the fall of 2019 and have played in every session since. 3 years ago, I started attending the Pickleball Socials and absolutely fell in love with the sport. These days, I actually play pickleball more often than volleyball! I now serve as the Pickleball Commissioner for Team Saint Louis. Prior to rejoining the board as Vice President, I served as President of Team Saint Louis for two years. Returning to the board marks a new chapter for me—one rooted in growth, reflection, and a deeper understanding of what it means to build inclusive and engaging spaces for active connection within our LGBTQIA+ community. My commitment to the community also includes the honor of serving as Mr. Pride Saint Louis 2023, a title that deepened my connection to and advocacy for our diverse and vibrant LGBTQIA+ family.

James Caldwell

Treasurer

Hi! I’m James Caldwell, Treasurer for Team St. Louis and Board Liaison for our Volleyball program, and I’m thrilled to serve on the board of this amazing community organization. I’m proud to call St. Louis home, where I work as an IT Director for a local municipality. Before this role, I served as Treasurer of St. Louis GLASS. When I’m off the clock, you can usually find me hanging out with my 9-year-old beagle or getting active with softball, volleyball, and climbing . I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together!

Jasmine Miller

Comms. & Media Director

Hi! I'm Jasmine Miller, and I am honored to be your Team Saint Louis Secretary. I have been a proud Saint Louis resident for the past 10 years and an active Team Saint Louis player for the last 3 years. I hold a Master’s degree in Non-Profit Administration and have dedicated the last seven years of my career to the non-profit sector. I currently serve as a Program Manager at Duo Dogs, a local Saint Louis-based organization that enhances the lives of individuals through Touch Therapy and service dogs. With a deep passion for community service, I am committed to making a meaningful impact through my work in the non-profit sector. Outside of professional responsibilities, I enjoys staying active—whether it’s running around the volleyball courts, playing with GLASS softball, or hitting the pickleball courts. As Secretary of Team Saint Louis, I am honored to contribute to the organization’s mission and help make a lasting difference in the community.

Edd Barboza

Comms. & Media Director

Hey everyone! I’m Edd, and I’ve been a member of this organization for the past two years since moving back to STL. I’m honored to contribute my passion for connecting people and ideas through effective communication and creative storytelling. With a background in graphic design, marketing, and public relations, I bring a unique blend of skills to the team. Currently, I work as a graphic designer, and in my free time, you can find me staying active, exploring new places and cuisines, caring for my indoor jungle of over 200 houseplants, or spending time with furry friends. I’m thrilled to be part of this organization and excited to help us grow, innovate, and make an even bigger impact!
